AML Policy
Swap-BNB.org uses a risk-based approach to anti-money-laundering, sanctions, fraud and transaction-risk controls for supported crypto-to-crypto exchanges.
The standard eligible exchange flow does not require account registration or routine KYC at the start of every order. Additional review may occur when a specific transaction presents risk indicators that require further examination.
Risk-Based Approach
AML controls are applied according to the circumstances of an individual order rather than requiring the same verification procedure for every customer and every transaction.
Most standard eligible exchanges can proceed through the normal order flow without an identity-verification request.
An order may require additional review when transaction information, blockchain activity or other available risk indicators suggest that further checks are appropriate.
The existence of a review does not automatically mean that unlawful activity has occurred. It means that the order requires additional assessment before processing can continue.
Information Reviewed for an Exchange
Depending on the order, Swap-BNB.org may consider information such as:
- cryptocurrency and blockchain network;
- amount being exchanged;
- deposit and destination wallet addresses;
- blockchain transaction references;
- transaction history relevant to the order;
- order behaviour and processing information;
- risk or security indicators associated with the transaction;
- information supplied during a compliance review.
Blockchain information used during such checks may include publicly available transaction data.
When Additional Review May Occur
An exceptional review may be triggered when an order presents indicators associated with elevated transaction, fraud, sanctions, security or AML risk.
Examples can include apparent connections with:
- stolen or fraud-related cryptocurrency;
- sanctioned or restricted activity;
- known illicit services;
- ransomware or extortion activity;
- darknet-related activity;
- compromised wallets or accounts;
- unusual transaction patterns requiring further examination;
- other activity presenting material compliance or security concerns.
These examples are not an exhaustive list.
Swap-BNB.org does not publish internal screening rules, risk scores or review thresholds because doing so could reduce the effectiveness of transaction-risk controls.
Additional Information Requests
If further review is required, Swap-BNB.org may request information relevant to the particular order.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- order information;
- transaction details;
- explanation of the transaction;
- information relating to the source or destination of funds;
- additional supporting information;
- identity-related information where necessary for the specific review.
Additional information is not requested as routine KYC for every standard order.
Users should provide only the information specifically requested through the relevant compliance process.
Swap-BNB.org does not need and will not request a wallet seed phrase, private key or wallet password as part of an AML review.
Possible Review Outcomes
Depending on the result of a review, an order may:
- continue through normal processing;
- remain temporarily pending while information is reviewed;
- require additional information;
- be declined or otherwise restricted where processing cannot proceed;
- require another appropriate resolution based on the circumstances of the transaction.
Any action involving received cryptocurrency depends on the individual order, blockchain status, applicable restrictions and available resolution options.
The service does not guarantee that every transaction will be accepted merely because an order can initially be created.
Sanctions and Restricted Activity
Swap-BNB.org does not intend its exchange service to be used for transactions involving prohibited or sanctioned activity.
Transactions may be reviewed where available information indicates a possible sanctions or restricted-activity concern.
Where a transaction cannot be processed because of an applicable restriction or material compliance concern, additional handling may be required before the matter can be resolved.
Fraud and Illicit Funds
The service should not be used to exchange cryptocurrency obtained through fraud, theft, unauthorized access, ransomware, scams or other unlawful activity.
If information associated with an order indicates that cryptocurrency may be connected with such activity, processing may be stopped while the matter is reviewed.
Blockchain Risk
Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible and blockchain addresses can interact with many other addresses and services over time.
A risk indicator associated with a transaction does not necessarily establish the identity or intent of the person creating an order. For that reason, transaction-risk information may be evaluated together with other available order information before a decision is made.
User Responsibilities
Users are responsible for ensuring that:
- they are authorized to control and exchange the cryptocurrency they send;
- the transaction does not violate applicable restrictions;
- order information they provide is accurate;
- they use the correct asset and blockchain network;
- the destination wallet is under appropriate control or is intended for the recipient they specify;
- information provided during a compliance review is accurate.
Attempting to conceal relevant information or provide materially false information may prevent an order from being processed.
No Routine KYC for Standard Eligible Orders
Swap-BNB.org does not describe every order as requiring KYC.
For a standard eligible crypto-to-crypto exchange, account registration and identity verification are not requested as routine steps before the order begins.
This does not mean that every order is guaranteed to proceed without additional checks. Exceptional risk-triggered cases may require further information before processing can continue.
